Bob Sugarman is a partner in
the law firm of Sugarman & Susskind, P.A., and a board-certified
labor and employment lawyer. He has provided legal services to
multi-employer and public sector plans for over 30 years. Mr.
Sugarman currently represents over 60 municipal pension plans.
He is a former adjunct professor, Florida International
University, and has served as an instructor for the Certified
Employee Benefit Specialist® program and the Certificate of
Achievement in Public Pension Policy (CAPPP™).
Mr. Sugarman is a member of the
International Foundation and the National Association of Public
Pension Attorneys. In addition, he has served as an executive
board member of the Florida Bar Labor Law Section and has been a
longtime member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee.
Since 1989 he has continuously been listed in the current
editions of The Best Lawyers in America and Leading Florida
Attorneys, and was recently recognized by Florida Monthly
Magazine as one of Florida’s “Top Lawyers.” Mr. Sugarman has
spoken before many organizations including the Government Finance
Officers Association, the State of Florida Division of
Retirement, the American Society of Actuaries, the Florida Public
Pension Trustees’ Association, the International Foundation of
Employee Benefit Plans, and the National Association of Police
Organizations on legal issues relating to employee benefits. He
has had articles published in the Stetson Law Review and the
Textbook for Employee Benefit Plan Trustees, Administrators and
Advisors. Mr. Sugarman received his B.A. Degree from The George
Washington University and his J.D. in 1972 from the University of
Virginia. In addition to being a Florida Bar Board Certified
Labor and Employment lawyer, he was elected by his peers as a
fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Attorneys.
